The New Zealand new vehicle market continues all guns blazing in July with deliveries up 12% year-on-year to 11.570, pushing the year-to-date total up 6% to an all-time record 80.612 units. Toyota maintains its lead on the brands ranking but grows slower than the market at +9% to 2.024 sales and 17.5% just as Ford surges 49% to 1.550 and 13.4%, leaving Holden (8.5%), Mazda (7.7%) and Nissan (6.2%) in the dust, the latter up a cool 23% though. Further down, Kia spectacularly gains 111% to #8, Isuzu is up 35% to #10, Chinese carmaker LDV is up 111% to #19 and Jaguar is up 167% to #28. Reversely, Volkswagen tanks 20%, BMW is down 19%, Ssangyong down 30%, Fiat down 38% and Porsche down 44%.
Model-wise, the Ford Ranger stuns once again with sales more than doubling year-on-year (+101%) to break the monthly volume record for a commercial vehicle at 925 units – the previous record being held by its archenemy the Toyota Hilux (up just 8% to 486 this month) with 847 sales in June 2014. The Toyota Corolla is back up 5 spots on June and 38% year-on-year to #3 while the Kia Sportage continues to climb the ladder, up 267% to #4 thanks to a new model that has definitely struck a chord with NZ customers. Notice also the Mazda BT-50 up 41% to #11, the Toyota Camry up to #18 and the Holden Cruze up 87% to #19.
