Chile July 2016: Kia takes control with sales up 16%
Kia becomes the best-selling manufacturer in Chile so far this year.

The Chilean new car market is up 1% year-on-year in July to 22.528 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total up 6.5% to 162.675 units. After overtaking Chevrolet in the year-to-date ranking to snap the 2nd place last month, Korean carmaker Kia goes one step further in July: thanks to deliveries up 16% year-on-year to 2.467 for a 11% market share, it becomes the best-selling brand in Chile so far in 2016 with 15.546 units (-2%) ahead of Hyundai at 15.523 (+14%) and Chevrolet at 15.110 (-24%). Despite an overall market in positive, marques gaining ground year-on-year in July aren’t that numerous: Peugeot (+36%), Renault (+10%), Fiat (+28%), JAC (+117%), Mercedes (+46%), Dongfeng (+40%), Honda (+35%), BMW (+17%), Volvo (+20%), BAIC (+184%) and Foton (+242%) are among them. Chinese manufacturers hold 9.4% of the market in July vs. 8% year-to-date.
