2015 was the year of all records in the Czech Republic, and 2016 is turning out to be just the same. The all-time monthly volume record has been beaten on each of the past four months, lifted from 22.799 in March to 23.131 in April, 24.335 in May and now 25.714 in June, the first time Czech new car sales cross the symbolic 25.000 monthly sales mark. This is up 21% on June 2015 which at the time was an all-time record also… The year-to-date tally is now up 17% halfway through the year to 132.778 units. Homegrown behemoth Skoda is marking a slight pause this month with sales up “just” 18% to 7.965 and 31% share vs. 32.8% so far in 2016. Volkswagen (+31%) and Hyundai (+55%) follow while Ford (-10%) struggles. Dacia (+20%) round up the Top 5 ahead of Renault (+54%) with Mercedes (+59%) and BMW (+2%) making a rare appearance in the Top 10. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia reigns supreme at 11.4% share, distancing the Fabia (7.9%) and Superb (4.9%) while the Hyundai i30 overtakes the Skoda Rapid to snap the 4th spot. The Kia Cee’d (#10), Nissan Qashqai (#11), Hyundai Tucson (#13) and Renault Megane (#19) shine.
