Kenya Full Year 2015: Toyota Hilux edges past Land Cruiser 70

The Kenyan new vehicle market is very dynamic in 2015, up 12% year-on-year to 19.451 units. once again and thanks to a particularly strong performance in the heavy trucks segment, Isuzu confirms it is the favourite choice in Kenya, selling almost double the amount than the #2 Toyota at 6.231 units (+30%) vs. 3.442 (-15%). Mitsubishi is catching up fast at 3.153 sales (+14%), with Tata (+4%) and Ford (+48%) rounding up the Top 5. Mercedes is up 75%, Subaru up 82% and Chevrolet up 90% while French carmaker Renault (re)launches in Kenya this year and lands at #24 with 53 sales, 42 of which are the Duster SUV (#27).

Isuzu KB Kenya 2015The Isuzu KB is up 29% to rank #2 in Kenya this year.

In the model sales charts, the Toyota Hilux dislodges its stablemate the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 (-30%) despite sales down 2% to 1.520 to become the best-selling light vehicle in Kenya. The Isuzu KB (+29%) climbs to 2nd place, while the Ford Ranger more than doubles its sales year-on-year (+104%) to leap to #4. The Nissan NP300 Hardbody is the 4th pickup in the Top 5, the Land Rover Defender is up 51% to #8, the Subaru Forester up 83% to #10 an the Chevrolet Trailblazer up 263% to #12.
