Spain December 2015: Hyundai Tucson breaks into Top 10

The Spanish new car market continues on its steady growth at another very dynamic +20% in December to 89.211 units, the best December score since 2009 and pushing the overall 2015 total past one million units at 1.041.276. Peugeot outpaces the market by a large margin (+33%) to take the lead of the brands ranking at 8.5% share above Volkswagen (+17%), Ford (+5%) and Renault (+9%) while Seat (+3%) rounds up the Top 5. Hyundai is up 107% to 6th place vs. #12 year-to-date, Dacia is up 34%, BMW up 57% and Audi up 48%.
Model-wise, the Seat Leon reclaims the top spot it holds annually with a full one percentage point of share market advantage over all other nameplates on sale in the country at 3.7% vs. 2.7% for its stablemate the Seat Ibiza in 2nd place. The Dacia Sandero, #1 in November, is knocked off to third position but up 57% year-on-year to 2.414 sales, distancing the Nissan Qashqai (+6%), Peugeot 308 (+44%) and VW Golf (+37%). The performance of the month is delivered by the Hyundai Tucson: up four spots on November to brilliantly break into the Top 10 at #8 with 1.909 sales and 2.1% share.
