Germany December 2015: Audi down 6% to 6th place in market up 8%

The German new car market posts an excellent 8% year-on-year increase in December to 247.355 registrations, with embattled Volkswagen losing share at +3% to 20.6% and 50.887 sales and Audi tumbling down 6% to a paltry 6th place: its best-seller the A3 is only #19 this month. Skoda (+2%), Seat (-2%) and Porsche (-14%) also lose market share compared to a year ago. BMW (+13%) shoots up to 2nd place above Mercedes (+1%) while both Ford (+25%) and Opel (+15%) frankly outpace the market at #4 and #5 respectively. Inside the Top 20, notice also Renault up 36%, Hyundai up 24%, Kia up 15%, Volvo up 24% and Mazda up 31%. Further down, Land Rover (+46%), Jaguar (+53%) and Tesla (+42%) shine.

Model-wise, Volkswagen retains its monopoly on the podium with the Golf struggling (-10%) but the Passat (+30%) and Polo (+49%) in fantastic shape. The BMW 1 Series shoots back up 12 spots on November to land at an excellent 4th place (+19%) while the Opel Astra is up a whopping 61% to break back into the Top 5 for only the 2nd time this year. The relaunch honeymoon period is over for the Mercedes C-Class (-22%), the Hyundai i10 takes off to #20 (+131%) and the Fiat 500 is boosted by the 500X up 33% to #22. The Opel Karl (#44) and Renault Kadjar (#46) break into the German Top 50 for the very first time, the latter already outselling its stablemate the Captur (#56)
