This is official: the Argentinean new car market has turned around: up another 29% year-on-year in November to 49.707 units after gaining 21% last month. It is however too late to save the year-to-date total from a 2015 decline with sales down 8% after 11 months to 593.400. Volkswagen remains the most popular carmaker in the country even though it gains less ground than the market at just +6% to 8.800 sales and 17.7% share, and this month Renault climbs to 2nd place thanks to deliveries more than doubling compared to November 2014 at +120% to 6.882. Chevrolet also shines at +52% in third place but Ford drops to #4 vs. #2 year-to-date with sales up just 4%. Citroen, Nissan (+51%), Fiat (+59%), Audi (+63%), BMW (+78%) and Volvo (+97%) impress.
The VW Gol Trend holds onto the models pole position despite sales down 4% year-on-year to 2.193 while the Chevrolet Classic is back to the 2nd spot it also holds year-to-date. But the main event in the charts is the fantastic third place of the locally-assembled VW Amarok, smashing its previous Argentinean ranking record of #8 established exactly a year ago in November 2014. Its sales are up 56% year-on0year to 1.905, beating the Toyota Hilux (1.892) to become Argentina’s most popular pickup truck. This is only the 4th time in history that Amarok sales outpace the Hilux – and the first time in almost four years – after December 2010, November 2011 and January 2012.
Previous month: Argentina October 2015: Toyota Etios up to 4th place in market up 21%
