As is the tradition on BSCB, I can share with you sales of locally-assembled models in Pakistan for the month, a pretty accurate picture of the new vehicle market in the country given import taxes are too high to allow imports in any significant numbers. Sales of locally-assembled cars in Pakistan are up a whopping 56% year-on-year both in October (19.729 units) and year-to-date (187.068), fuelled by low petrol prices. The Toyota Corolla keeps the lead with just under 1/4 of the market, followed this month by the Suzuki Ravi, up a spectacular 225% on October 2014. The Suzuki Mehran remains third while the Suzuki Bolan is down two spots to #4. Only 911 units separate the three nameplates year-to-date and the race for the overall 2nd spot for the Full Year 2015 will be very tight indeed. Notice also the Suzuki Wagon R up 140% to #7 and the Toyota Hilux up 130% to #9.
