With the new licence plates slated in for July, the Irish new car market logically slows down to an almost standstill in June at just 1.449 registrations, down 14% year-on-year and bringing the year-to-date total to 82.337 units, still up 25% on 2014 which was itself up 27% on 2013, so good times indeed in Ireland. Toyota (+7%) overtakes Volkswagen (-7%) to become the most popular manufacturer in the country this month but with such tiny volumes (261 sales vs. 241), this has no impact on the year-to-date ranking still led by VW at 10.425 sales and 12.7% vs. 8.866 and 10.8% for Toyota.
Citroen C4 Picasso sales are up 3-fold year-on-year in Ireland in June.
All other manufacturers in the Top 10 fall heavily except Citroen up 159% to #10. Notice also Volvo up 26% and Land Rover up 31%. Similarly, the models ranking does not have much significance given the best-seller, a Toyota Avensis in full runout mode before the arrival of the new generation, only needs 60 sales to top the ranking. Other great performers include the VW Passat (+160%), Ford Mondeo (+133%), VW Tiguan (+94%), VW Jetta (+100%) and Citroen C4 Picasso (+189%) while the Nissan X-Trail lands at #20.
