Finland June 2015: VW Golf and Skoda Fabia in great shape

The Finnish new car market is down 3% year-on-year in June to 8.840 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 56.436 units, down 4% on 2014. Volkswagen bucks the trend with sales up 4% to an outstanding 16% market share vs. 12.2% so far in 2015. Reversely, below VW Toyota is down 11%, Skoda is down 6% and Ford down 7%. Nissan for its part is back up 5 spots on May and 29% year-on-year to #5, and outside the Top 10, BMW, Mitsubishi (+25%), Peugeot (+34%), Hyundai (+49%), Renault (+53%) and Subaru (+57%) all display explosive year-on-year growth.

Toyota Yaris

In the models ranking, the VW Golf is back to a pole position it hasn’t held in one full year (since June 2014), one percentage point above 2015’s leader the Skoda Octavia, while the Nissan Qashqai is back up 4 spots to #3. The Toyota Yaris more than doubles its sales year-on-year to land in 4th place, the VW Passat is up 33% to #5, but the best performer in the Top 10 is without a doubt the Skoda Fabia, lifted by its new generation up from outside the Top 30 in May directly to #8. It is now #25 year-to-date vs. #68 in 2014. Notice also the Opel Corsa solid at #12 and the BMW 3 Series up 34% to #14.
