Fiji is located about 2.000 km (1.300 mi) northeast of New Zealand’s North Island with Vanuatu to the west and New Caledonia to the southwest. It is composed of 332 islands, of which 110 are permanently inhabited, and more than 500 islets. However the two major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, account for almost 90% of the population of almost 860,000. Fiji has one of the most developed economies in the Pacific due to an abundance of forest, mineral, and fish resources, and this translated into its new car market of 3.051 registrations in 2014, a lot more diversified than most South Pacific nations with 13 manufacturers sharing official sales figures.
Hyundai holds 15.1% of the Fijian new car market in 2014.
Toyota leads the way by far with 26% share, but not less than eight additional manufacturers manage to grab a 4.8% market share or more. Hyundai lands in 2nd place with 15.1% above Mazda, Kia and Ford. Notice the Chinese Haval at #12 with 13 units sold this year. The Toyota Hilux is the best-seller on the archipelago with over 10% of the Fijian new car market in 2014, and should be followed by the Hyundai Elantra. The Hiace, Prado and Yaris are also strong sellers for Toyota in Fiji.
