Europe January 2015: Now with Top 335 All-models and All-brands

Refined European data now available shows a market still up 6% to 1.023.880 registrations in January. If Volkswagen (+9%), Renault (+13%), Opel and Mercedes (both at +15%) are the best year-on-year performers in the brands Top 10, beyond Mini (+22%), Nissan (+36%), Smart (+37%), Porsche (+44%), Ssangyong (+54%), Tesla (+61%), Mitsubishi (+93%) and ultimately Jeep (+171%) also impress. Citroen (#13) now splits with DS, already down a worrying 16% on a year ago to #28.

Compact SUV Europe January 2015. Picture courtesy autobild.deThe compact crossover craze continues in Europe: Renault Captur (+29%), Peugeot 2008 (+11%), Ford Ecosport (#110), Dacia Duster (+21%) and Opel Mokka (+23%) all outperform the market in January.

The Top 10 models remains the same as initially published, with the VW Passat at #11 (+23%) and the Renault Captur at #12 (+29%) missing out on it for only 468 and 533 units respectively and outselling the Ford Focus down 12% to #13. Also delivering outstanding results inside the European Top 30 this month are the Mercedes C-Class up 73% to #14, the Peugeot 308 up 45% to #15, Opel Mokka up 23% to #21, Dacia Duster up 21% to #23 and the Seat Leon up 36% to #25. Notice also the Peugeot 2008 up 11% to #18 vs. #23 over the Full Year 2014.

The VW Golf Sportsvan leads recent nameplate launches at a splendid #31 with 8,979 sales, followed by the Peugeot 108 cracking the European Top 50 for the first time at #46 with 7,092 deliveries, the Citroen C4 Cactus getting close – up 13 spots on December to #53 and 6,355 units (vs. just 3,630 for the C4!), the BMW 2 Series at #61, the Nissan Pulsar breaking into the Top 100 for the first time for this generation at #98, the Jeep Renegade at #103 and the Smart Forfour at #115. Now with official Europe-wide sales, we welcome the Fiat 500X (#129) and the Land Rover Discovery Sport (#209) in the sales charts this month.
