New car sales in the country were back in positive for the first time in 7 year in 2014 at a very robust +21% to 71,218 units, still very low compared to the 279,554 registrations clocked in 2007. However, after dropping by 9% in November, the Greek market is down once again in January: -8% to 5,848 sales, making it 2 months in negative in the past 3. Is this already the beginning of the end for Greece? Let’s hope not. The brands ranking shows an ultra-dominant Toyota at just under 15% share above Opel (9.5%), Volkswagen (9%) and Citroen (7.4%) while Peugeot shoots up 12 spots on November to a beautiful 5th place with 434 sales.
Skoda is among the Top 10 most popular brands in Greece in January.
Logically, the Toyota Yaris is the best-selling nameplate in the country this month, and by far, with 494 sales and 8.4% share, ahead of the Opel Corsa (4.5%), VW Polo (4.4%), Peugeot 208 (4%), Ford Fiesta (3.9%) and Citroen C3 (3.6%), making the Top 6 entirely composed of superminis. Strong performers this month include the Suzuki Swift at #10, Ford Focus at #14, Skoda Rapid at #17, Kia Rio at #19, Peugeot 108 at #29 and Nissan Pulsar at #33.
