Thunderstorm in the Greek new car market in November: for the first time in over a year (since October 2013), deliveries are in negative YOY and not by a tiny amount: down a harsh 9% to 4,983 registrations. Is it the beginning of the end of the Greek recovery? Answer in a few months. The year-to-date total meanwhile is still up by a wide margin at +19% and 64,830 registrations. In the brands ranking, Toyota (15.5%) and Volkswagen (12.2%) continue to lead but with particularly strong scores this month while Peugeot is up 9 spots on October to #4 and 6.7%, Citroen up 4 to #5 and 6.2% and Volvo up 8 to #8 and 4.5%.
The Volvo V40 is up to #5 this month in Greece.
Model-wise, thanks to the new model and a very strong 9.5% share in November, the Toyota Yaris is back to the pole position in 2014 YTD, a spot it held in 2013. The VW Polo remains very solid in 2nd place at 6.6%, the Opel Corsa is so-so at #3 but the Citroen C3 (#4), Volvo V40 (#5) and Peugeot 208 (#7) impress, and very much so. Notice also the Toyota Aygo up 21 ranks on October to #13, the Peugeot 308 up 34 to #15, the Hyundai i10 up to #19, the Peugeot 108 (#29) and Mercedes GLA (#36) both smashing their monthly Greek ranking records and breaking into the Greek Top 50 for the first and the Smart Forfour making its re-entry in the ranking directly at #47.
