Sweden September 2014: Volvo V60 on podium

New car sales in Sweden are up another very satisfying 7% year-on-year in September to 26.142 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 222.636 units, up 15% on 2013. Brand-wise, after a month of August traditionally disrupted by Summer holidays, Volvo reclaims its perennial pole position, overcompensating for lost time at 20.9% share and 5,464 sales vs. 13.8% and 3,595 for Volkswagen. Toyota is back up two spots to #3 as is Kia up to #4, overtaking BMW and Audi. Mercedes is up a splendid 27% in 8th place as is Nissan at #12, Citroen is up 52%, Mitsubishi is up 98%, Mazda up 57%, Dacia up 50% and Jeep up 528%.
The Hyundai i30 is among Sweden’s Top 10 most popular vehicles.
In the models ranking, the Volvo V70 is also back in the lead with 2,019 sales and 7.7% share but the VW Golf is still way above normal at 6.6% share vs. 5.3% year-to-date. The Volvo S/V60 jumps on the podium for the first time this year thanks to 1,549 sales and 5.8% share, the Volvo XC60 is up 3 ranks on August to #4, the Skoda Fabia up 9 to #9, Hyundai i30 up 18 to #10, Mercedes C-Class up 14 to #11 and the Kia Sportage is up 12 to #14. Further down, the Toyota Aygo breaks into the Top 20 at #19 thanks to the new generation whereas it did not appear in the August Top 60, the VW Up is up 16 spots to #27, the Hyundai i10 up 17 to #40, the BMW 2 Series ranks at #72 and the Mercedes GLA at #77 however the Citroen C4 Cactus is down 13 to #70.
