Finally a month of frank year-on-year growth for the new car market in New Caledonia, a French overseas territory located North-East of Australia: up a magnificent 22% in July to 1,086 registrations, reducing the year-to-date decline to 5% at 5,871 units. The Ford Ranger continues to reign supreme over the models ranking at 6.7%, ahead of the Toyota Hilux at 5.6% and the Dacia Duster at a strong 5.3%. The Hyundai ix35 is up to 5th place, the Citroen Berlingo up to #6, the Kia Sorento jumps from outside the June Top 50 directly into 10th position, the Mazda BT-50 is up to #13, the Suzuki Grand Vitara up to #16, Toyota Yaris up to #21, Toyota Tacoma up to #26, Hyundai i10 up to #29 and Hyundai Accent up to #30.
Finally, below the Great Wall Voleex C20R at #34, the BYD S6 becomes the 2nd best selling Chinese vehicle on the territory as early as for its 2nd month of sale, shooting up to #40. Along with the Dongfeng Utah at #47 it is one of 3 Chinese models to rank among the 50 most popular vehicles in New Caledonia, which has the particularity of more lenient car pollution and security laws, allowing the sale of cars imported of China unlike in metropolitan France where the legislation in these matters is stricter.
