The Israeli new car market is impacted by the deepening of the conflict the country is involved in with sales down 16% year-on-year in July to 18,469. The year-to-date total now stands at 153,977 units, up 15% on 2013. Hyundai continues to dominate the brands ranking with 2,496 sales and 13.5% share and while Toyota is back above Kia in 2nd place, it’s only thanks to 23 units (2,200 vs. 2,177)… Mazda and Skoda are solid below, followed by Suzuki back up 3 spots on June while Honda is up 5 to #8 and 5% share vs. 3.7% ytd and Renault passes Nissan to break into the Top 10.
Model-wise, after seeing 10 consecutive months in pole position interrupted by the Kia Picanto last month, the Toyota Corolla reclaims its crown thanks to 1,041 sales and 5.6% share, knocking the Picanto down to #2 at 729 units and 3.9%, even threatened by the Suzuki SX4 previous generation at #3 and 716 sales, fully benefiting from its price cut since the arrival of the SX4 S-Cross, named Crossover in Israel. Notice also the Mazda3 consistent atop the ranking at #4, the Hyundai i35 (aka Elantra) up to #5, the i10 up to #7 thanks to the new model, the Kia Sportage up to #8 vs. #20 year-to-date, the Honda Civic up 15 ranks on June to an excellent 10th spot, the Subaru Impreza up 9 to #14 and the Honda Insight up a surprising 26 spots to #31.
