The Thai new car market continues its free fall: down another 38% year-on-year in May to just 69,681 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 367,112 sales, down 42% or 270,000 units on 2013. Toyota continues to reign supreme over Thailand new car sales with a 36.7% market share this month vs. 37.1% year-to-date, ahead of Isuzu at 19.6%, Honda at 12.4% and Mitsubishi above Nissan once again at #4 with 6.8% vs. 6.2% and now above Nissan year-to-date also. In the models ranking, both the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max are solid at 16.4% and 15.6% share respectively vs. 16.4% and 15.1% year-to-date.

The Toyota Yaris is back up two spots to jump back onto the podium at #3 with 4,556 sales and 6.5%, the Honda City remains at #4 with 4.9% while the Toyota Vios is down two to #5 and 4.6% and the Toyota Corolla is stable at #6. Rare event: the #3 pick-up is the Ford Ranger this month and not the Mitsubishi Triton at 1,939 sales vs. 1,921. Notice also the Mitsubishi Mirage up 9 spots on April to #10, the Honda Civic and Accord both up 8 ranks to #13 and #17 respectively and the Ford Ecosport up 3 to #21 vs. #32 year-to-date. Finally the Suzuki Celerio sells its first 13 units in the country this month.
