Croatia May 2014: Skoda Octavia and Opel Corsa on top

New car sales in Croatia enjoy an 8th consecutive month of double-digit year-on-year gain in May at a fantastic +46% to 4,870 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 16,864 units, up 38% on 2013. The Skoda Octavia is going from strength to strength here, reaching a huge 9.1% market share thanks to 444 sales and cementing its year-to-date leadership at 1,364 units and 8.1%, the only model to have managed to sell over 1,000 so far in the country this year.

The Opel Corsa also lodges an extremely strong month at 8.7% share thanks to 425 sales and is now only one unit below its big sister the Opel Astra in the year-to-date ranking at #4. In fact, Opel is the most popular carmaker in the country in May with 16.9% share vs. 14.6% for Skoda and 12.9% for Volkswagen, still leader year-to-date though at 15.3%. Ford is reborn this month in Croatia: both the Fiesta at #5 and the Focus at #9 make their reappearance in the Top 20, and do so in the year-to-date ranking as well at #10 and #18 respectively. Leader over the Full Year 2013, the VW Golf is down to #5 this month but remains #2 year-to-date for now.
