New car sales in Uruguay may have plateaued for a bit: they are down 2% year-on-year in April to 4,281 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still up 2% on 2013 to a record 17,140 units. Chevrolet remains the most popular carmaker in the country with 511 sales and 11.9% share, slightly below its 2014 level (12.5%) while Fiat lodges a second consecutive month in 2nd position above Volkswagen (10.2% share vs. 9.5%) but remains below the German manufacturer year-to-date (8.6% vs. 9.4%). Nissan is up one spot on March to #4 and Hyundai up two to #5.
