The South African new car market is down 0.2% year-on-year in March to 55,363 registrations, bringing the first Quarter total to 160,138 units, down 3% on 2013. The Toyota Hilux is more dominant than ever here with 3,415 sales and 6.2% share this month, over 1.5 percentage point above the #2, the VW Polo Vivo at 2,553 units and 4.6%. The Toyota Etios brilliantly climbs onto the South African podium for the 5th time since launch at #3 with 2,364 sales and 4.3%, its 2nd best monthly market share ever.

Other great performers this month in the country include the Renault Duster and Sandero both up 7 spots to #20 and #22 respectively, the Nissan NV350 up 59 to #29 and the BMW 2 Series landing at #73 with 124 sales for its first month in market.

Naamsa has always great stats, Ford numbers including Mazda and AMH + AAD numbers those 6001 are not only Hyundai-Kia, at least i know they import Daihatsus,Proton, Chery – AMH and AAD should sell something too so Hyundai-Kia must be less than those 6001 reported under AMH,AAD imports. Also other chinese brands they probably import would be good if someone from South africa would give us inside, that how many from thise 6001 vehicles under AMH, AAD are really Hyundai, Kia – i think about 5.5thousand and the rest are chinese, Daihatsu, Proton and so on
