New car sales in Belgium are up 1% year-on-year in February to 46,140 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 95,724 units after two months, down 0.4% on 2013. Peugeot brilliantly becomes the best-selling carmaker this month thanks to 4,278 sales and 9.3% share, up 21% on February 2014 and relegating Volkswagen to #2 at 3,860 units and 8.4%, down 12%. Renault remains third (+10%) while Citroen (-7%) and Opel (-6%) pass BMW (+3%) in spite of sales declining year-on-year. Notice also Toyota up 34% to #9, Ford up 16% to #10, Kia up 28% to #12, Suzuki up 63% to #18 and Chevrolet up 54% to #19.

In the models ranking (keeping in mind these figures now include LCVs), the VW Golf remains the most popular vehicle in the country with 1,252 sales and 5.2% share, but is threatened this month by the Renault Scénic, up 7 spots on January to land at an excellent 2nd place with 1,132 units and 2.2% share. These two models are the only ones above 1,000 monthly sales and 2% share in March in Belgium, showing the extreme fragmentation of the market. The Hyundai ix35 continues to amaze and drops only one ranking on February to #4, the Kia Sportage is up 14 to #14, the Peugeot 2008 is back down 6 to #17 and the Skoda Fabia up 55 to #26.
