Finland January 2014: Skoda Octavia leads, Audi A3 up to #5

The Finnish new car market starts the year all guns blazing: up 24% on January 2013 to 12,644 registrations. Toyota takes the lead of the brands ranking this month with 1,568 sales and 12.4%, passing Volkswagen at 1,511 units and 12% with Skoda (9%) and Volvo (8.2%) following. Audi is up to #5 vs. #8 over the Full Year 2013, BMW up to #6 vs. #10 and Mercedes up to #8 vs. #9. The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling car in the country for the 6th time in the last 8 months thanks to 801 sales and 6.3%, up a whopping 232% year-on-year. It is followed by the VW Golf, leader over the Full Year 2013, at 757 units and 6% and the Toyota Auris up 15 spots on December and 180% year-on-year to 424 sales and 3.4%.
Below the BMW 3 Series also in splendid form up 60% at #4, the Audi A3 is the star of the month: it gains an out-of-this-world 759% over January 2013 to land at a best-ever 5th position with 395 sales and 3.1% share. Other great performers this month include the Toyota Corolla up 294% year-on-year to reappear inside the Top 30 directly at #11 thanks to the new generation, the BMW 5 Series up 59% to #12 vs. #24 over the Full Year 2013, the Volvo V60 up 91% to #16, Volvo XC60 up 122% to #17, Mercedes C-Class up 65% to #19, Audi A6 up 78% to #23 and the Honda Civic up 179% to #24. Finally, we welcome 3 new entrants in the ranking this month: the Mazda3 up 840% year-on-year to #27, the Nissan Note up 292% to #28 and the Seat Leon up 271% to #31.
