Sweden December 2013: Volvo XC60 breaks records

Swedish new car sales are down 3% year-on-year in December, bringing the final 2013 total to 269,363 units, down 4% on 2012. In pole position, the Volvo V70 is above 10% share for the first time since December 2010 at 2,707 units and 10.3%, followed by the VW Passat with 1,794 sales and 6.8%, its highest market share since February 2012. Below the Volvo S/V60 also very strong at 6.8% (third highest share ever and best since December 2012), the Volvo XC60 breaks its volume and market share records at #4 with 1,266 sales and 4.8%. All these good results bring Volvo up to a huge 25.9% market share vs. 20% over the Full Year.
Other great performers this month in Sweden include the VW Polo up 4 spots to #7 with 621 units and 2.4% vs. #18 and 1.3% over the Full Year, the Audi A6 up 8 to #10, Hyundai i30 up 14 to #11, Toyota Avensis up 14 to #12 vs. #26 in 2013, Mercedes C-Class up 5 to #18, Mercedes E-Class up 14 to #20, Renault Captur up one further rank on November to a best-ever #23 with 1% share, the Hyundai i40 up from outside the Top 60 to #29, Seat Ibiza up to #34 vs. #70 this year and the Dacia Duster breaking into the Swedish Top 40 for the very first time at #39.
