The Turkish new car market is down 3% year-on-year in October to 58,014 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 644,359 units, still up a very healthy 9% on 2012. Passenger Cars are up 8% to 46,985 sales while Light Commercial Vehicles are down a harsh 33% to 11,029 units. For the second time this year (and ever!) after last January the VW Jetta is the most popular model in Turkey this month thanks to 2,610 sales and 4.5% share, and is now up to #8 year-to-date at 2.5%. The Fiat Linea resists in 2nd place at 2,541 units and 4.4% and remains by far 2013’s best-seller so far with 30,259 sales and 4.7%, even though it hasn’t held the pole position since last July. Leader last month, the Renault Fluence is down to #3 in October and passes its little sister the Renault Symbol to rank #2 year-to-date at 21,452 units and 3.3%.
Other great performers this month in Turkey include the Ford Fiesta up 9 spots to #5, the Renault Clio up 3 to #7, Toyota Corolla up one further rank to #8 vs. #18 year-to-date, VW Passat up 9 to #10, Toyota Auris up 15 to #20, Hyundai ix35 up to #23 vs. #35 year-to-date, Toyota Yaris up 35 to #33, Mercedes E-Class stable at #38 vs. #56 year-to-date, Nissan Qashqai+2 up 68 spots to #49 vs. #106 year-to-date, Seat Toledo up 17 to #69 and Nissan Note up 83 to #87. Among recent launches, the Audi A3 Sedan is up to #67 with 211 sales, the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross up 110 ranks to #106, BMW 4 Series up 117 to #108 and the Jaguar F-Type selling its very first Turkish unit.
