Taiwan October 2013: Toyota Corolla back up to 11% share

New car sales in Taiwan are up a very healthy 15% year-on-year in October to 32,207 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total into positive at 304,749 units, up 0.7% on 2012. After dropping to #4 last month while the new generation made its appearance on the market, the Toyota Corolla is back to its dominant self in October thanks to 3,572 units sold for an excellent 11.1% market share. The Nissan Tiida is down one spot to #2, the Toyota Wish up 2 to #3 and the Toyota RAV4 down one to #4. Add the Camry at #5, the Vios at #7 and the Yaris at #8 and you have no less than 6 Toyotas in the Taiwanese Top 8 this month!

Further down, large German premium cars are having a great time: the Mercedes C-Class is up 7 ranks to #16, the E Class is stable at #18 vs. #25 year-to-date and the BMW 5 Series is up one spot to #20 vs. #28 year-to-date. Notice also the Ford Kuga at #19 and Mazda CX-5 at #36. Finally, we welcome two all-new models in the Taiwanese Top 30 this month: the Nissan Sentra landing directly at #26 with 332 sales and the Taiwanese Luxgen U7 Turbo, the replacement to the Luxgen 7 SUV, arriving just one unit below at #27 with 331 sales and already 1% market share.
