Definitive figures are now available for France, with the monthly total corrected to a slightly better 85,953 registrations, down 10% year-on-year. The biggest change compared to the preliminary data I published earlier this month is the appearance of the Peugeot 308 2nd generation directly in 21st position with 1,030 sales, mostly demo models to dealerships. September figures will start including private sales and given the CCFA now publishes data by generation we will be able to follow the progression of the 308 II month by month. Only good news!

This means all models from #21 in the preliminary data article are pushed down one rank, but all record-breakers inside the Top 50 hold on to their achievement. It now becomes even more apparent that Chevrolet had an amazing month in France in August: along with the Spark up 12 spots to #33 and the Aveo up 42 to #64, final figures tell us that the Cruze is up a huge 55 ranks to #44 – the previous best I had it at is #78 in May 2012, the Trax is up 23 to a record #57, the Orlando up 19 to #110 vs. #142 year-to-date and the Malibu up 23 to #139 vs. #194 ytd! All-in-all, Chevrolet is up 66% year-on-year to an unprecedented 11th place in the brands ranking with 2.9% share vs. 3.6% for Opel…

Adding the Grand C-Max, the Ford C-Max is back up to #49, the Kia Carens is #78, the Dacia Logan #82 and the Audi Q5 is up to #85. Further down, let’s salute the Mazda CX-5 breaking into the French Top 100 for the first time at #100, the Nissan Leaf up 44 to #119, VW Touareg up 64 to #125 and the Mercedes S-Class up 49 to #155 vs. 223 year-to-date. Finally, on top of the Peugeot 308 II we welcome two other newcomers in the ranking this month: the BMW 4 Series at #211 with 19 sales and the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross (new generation) at #263 and 4 units sold.
