Denmark August 2013: VW Up! and Toyota Aygo lead the way

The Danish new car market continues to display insolent health in an otherwise depressed European market: up 5% year-on-year both in August at 14,300 registrations and year-to-date at 120,585 units. The VW Up! is the most popular vehicle in the country for the 13th consecutive month and the 14th time in the last 15 months thanks to 728 sales and 5.1% share and adding up to 9,169 and 7.6% year-to-date. The Toyota Aygo replaces its twin the Peugeot 107 in 2nd place at 672 units and 4.7% while the Peugeot 208 rounds up the podium with 584 sales and 4.1%.

Ford Transit

It’s another month completely dominated by very small cars in Denmark: 21 of the Top 23 models are either minis or superminis… The Eastern European triplets are also in great shape thanks: the Kolin sisters (Aygo/107/C1) add up to 1,530 units and 10.7% while the Bratislava bunch (Up/Citigo/Mii) capture 1,455 sales and 10.2% share. Notice also the Renault Clio IV at #5 with 3.5%, the Kia Picanto up 8 spots to #6, Kia Rio up 7 to #9, Renault Captur up 42 to #27, Ford Mondeo up 28 to #38 and the Dacia Lodgy up 27 to #46.
