The Omani new car market is down 1% year-on-year in June to 16,870 registrations, however the year-to-date total after 6 months is still up 10% on 2012 to 105,650 units. Brand-wise, Toyota monopolises over half the Omani car market so far this year at 52.9% and 55,902 sales (56.1% with Lexus)! Nissan ranks 2nd at 18,802 units and 17.8% share while Hyundai rounds up the podium with 9,883 sales and 9.4% but 11.3% in June. The Toyota Hilux is sovereign in the models ranking once again, selling 2,163 units for a 12.8% market share, very close to the 12.7% it holds year-to-date.
It is followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up (9.5%), Prado (8.3%) up from #4 year-to-date, and Land Cruiser (6.3%). The most popular non-Toyota model both in June and year-to-date is the Nissan D22 pick-up at #5 with 788 sales and 4.7%, however two more Toyotas follow: the Hiace (#6) and Corolla (#7)! Excellent month for the Nissan Altima up to #8 vs. #13 year-to-date, the Hyundai Accent up to #10 vs. #14, Nissan Pathfinder up to #17 vs. #29 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee up to #33 vs. #55.
