Thanks to L’Automobile Magazine I can share with you a rare ranking for France: the best-selling electric and hybrid cars over the first half of 2013. Toyota wins by far at this little game, but interestingly not thanks to the Prius. The Toyota Yaris hybrid is the most popular model in the category with 6,280 sales over the period, which means 4 in 10 Yaris sold in France this year are hybrids, an outstanding ratio. The Toyota Auris does even better: it ranks #2 at 4,341 units, but given ‘only’ 6,002 Auris found a buyer in the country this year so far, it brings the Auris hybrid ratio to an unbelievable 72%!
The Renault Zoe takes the third spot thanks to 3,592 sales and has already become the best-selling all-electric car in the country by far, even though this figure is slightly disappointing for now. The Peugeot 3008 follows with a 15% hybrid ratio, ahead of the Peugeot 508 (21%) and Citroen DS5 (36%). The car that started it all is ‘only’ 7th: the Toyota Prius sold 1,275 units in 6 months in France while its MPV cousin the Prius+ is just behind at 1,233 sales.
