Belgium June 2013: Volkswagen edges past Renault, Opel #3

After contacting FEBIAC, I was told that not even a monthly Top 10 models ranking for Belgium could be made available for BSCB, making this country the last major one in Europe to not freely share that type of ranking. Strange. So if you have access to this data, please do comment on this article so we can change this situation! And in June the Belgian new car market has finally cracked: down 9% year-on-year to 43,158 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 289,873 units, up 2% on 2012.

Volkswagen is the best-selling brand this month in Belgium, but only just: the German carmakers sells only 4 units more than the #2 Renault at 4,468 and 10.4% share vs. 4,464 and 10.3%… Year-to-date, Volkswagen leads also at 30,040 sales and 10.4% vs. 27,143 and 9.4% for Renault. Opel manages to climb back onto the podium, up 4 ranks on May to #3 but down 20% year-on-year at 3,413 units and 7.9%. Notice also Ford up 1% to #8, Dacia up 40% to #10, Hyundai up 3% to #11, Fiat up 8% to #14, Mazda up 42% to #18 and Seat up 22% to #19.
