Portugal May 2013: Renault snaps back top spot away from VW

The horrendous year-on-year drops of 2011 and 2012 may have stopped, but the Portuguese new car market is still down 6% in May to 10,061 registrations, which means the year-to-date total after 5 months is back into negative at -0.8% and 42,237 units. While Volkswagen managed to reclaim the brands pole position both in April and year-to-date after 4 months, Renault is back in charge in May and year-to-date even though its sales are down 14% year-on-year to 1,092 units and 10.9% share, adding up to 4,299 and 10.2%. Volkswagen is hiding just around the corner at 1,038 sales and 10.3% in May and 4,265 and 10.1% year-to-date.
Citroen is up 6 spots to #5 and 6.9% share vs. #9 and 5% year-to-date, Mercedes is up 35% to #7, Nissan is up 16% to #12, Volvo up 29% to #16, Dacia up a huge 79% to #20, Land Rover up 45% to #26 and Jaguar is up 64% to #29.
