The Egyptian new car market continues to satisfy this year, up 13% year-on-year in April to 18,500 registrations, which brings the year-to0-date total to 67,106 units, up 12% on 2012. The Chevrolet TFR, a previous generation Isuzu D-Max, tops the sales charts for the third consecutive month and the 5th time in the last year thanks to 1,882 sales and 10.2% share, logically maintaining its 2013 leadership at 6,832 units. However this month the Hyundai Verna (an Accent from two generations ago) is only 46 units below at 1,836 sales and 9.9%.
The Hyundai Elantra is back to where it belongs: in third position – which was its ranking over the Full Year 2012 – at 955 units and 5.2% but is still only #9 in 2013 so far. The Mitsubishi Lancer is stable at #4 followed by the Chevrolet Lanos and Aveo. Notice the Geely Emgrand EC7 brilliantly spending its 2nd month in a row among the Top 10 most popular models in Egypt at #8 with 525 sales and 2.8% while the Renault Sandero is up a mammoth 47 spots on March to land in 9th place at 503 units and 2.7%, potentially on the back of runout promotions on the current generation as the new model hasn’t launched yet in the country.
Below, the Kia Sportage is up 11 ranks to #12, the Opel Astra Notchback lodges its third month in the Top 20 for the year at #18 and we welcome no less than 3 all-new models within this month’s Top 50: the Speranza Envy (aka Chery E5) lands at #27 with 160 sales and 0.9%, the Skoda Rapid is #29 at 151 units and 0.8% and the Kia Carens ranks 45th with 50 sales and 0.3%.
