Philippines March 2013: Market at record levels

Still only brands data for now for the Philippines, hopefully I will be able to share models data again shortly for this country. And as detailed in my special Manila Auto Show Report, the Pinoy car market is on fire this year. Building on an all-time record in 2012, new car sales are up 11% year-on-year in March to 18,141 registrations, bringing the Q1 2013 total to a record 49,558 units, up a mammoth 24% on Q1 2012. At this rate, the new car market in the Philippines could end 2013 above 225,000 units!

Toyota is still king of the castle here with 6,372 sales and 35.1% in March and 34.2% year-to-date, followed by Mitsubishi back just below 20% share this month at 3,612 units, adding up to 10,012 and 20.2% year-to-date. Hyundai rounds up the podium with an excellent 12.8% share in March thanks to 2,327 sales vs. 12% year-to-date. Notice also Ford up to #5 with 5.5% and Suzuki up to #8 at 2.2%
