Netherlands March 2013: VW Golf and Up! dominate

No light at the end of the tunnel yet for Dutch new car sales, down 31% year-on-year in March to 35,890 registrations which brings the year-to-date total to 115,843 units, down 30% on 2012. This month the VW Golf is the most popular model in the country thanks to 1,774 sales and 4.9% share, ahead of the VW Up! at 1,457 units and 4.1% and the Renault Megane, back in great shape and up 30 spots on February to #3 with 1,254 sales and 3.5%. Year-to-date, the VW Up! reigns supreme at 4,836 units and 4.2% ahead of the Golf at 4,511 and 3.9%.

Other great performers this month include the Opel Corsa up 24 ranks on last month to #5, the Volvo V40 solid at #10, BMW 1 Series up 18 to #18, Mitsubishi Space Star robust at #35 for its second month in market, the Opel Mokka up 5 to #54 and the Skoda Rapid up 60 to #81. Finally the Bratislava sisters (VW Up!, Skoda Citigo and Seat Mii) celebrate a win over the Kolin siblings (Peugeot 107, Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo) at 2,168 sales and 6% share vs. 1,738 and 4.8%.
