New car sales in South Africa are up a very robust 14% year-on-year in January to 55,007 registrations. After 2 months of reign of the Toyota Hilux, the VW Polo now reclaims the pole position, even taking off to a fantastic 7.4% market share thanks to 4,047 sales. The new gen VW Polo remains at a best-ever #2 with 2,790 units and 5.1%, with the Hilux kicked down to #3 with 2,634 sales and 4.6%.

Sponsored feature: From Industrial Specialised Applications comes an innovation so simple yet so practical, it’s just a matter of time before it tops the list of ‘essential items’ of bakkie owners. Named the EZDown, it’s a tailgate damper that equips tailgates with soft-release, singe entry opening and hands-free lowering. By using quick disconnect dampers to absorb the speed of tailgate descent, the EZDown is a must-have, especially when you consider what it can add in terms of safety and convenience. Now, there’s no chance of the tailgate crashing down on your child’s head like a ton of bricks when opening your tailgate.
