New car sales in Argentina are down just 5% on the all-time record month of January 2012 to a still very impressive 107,091 registrations. Surprise on top of the models ranking: for only the second time ever after January 2011, the Peugeot 207 Compact takes the lead thanks to 4,329 sales and 4% share, kicking the Chevrolet Classic down to #2 at 4,170 units and 3.9%. In fact the Top 4 is full of surprises: the Renault Duster climbs onto the Argentinean podium for the very first time at #3 with 3,944 sales and 3.7%, smashing its previous records of #5 (November 2011), 2,660 units (January 2012) and 3.6% share (November 2011). An exceptional performance for the low-cost SUV.
For its first full month of sales in the country, the Renault Clio Mio is up a massive 45 spots on December to a fantastic 4th position at 3,942 units and 3.7% share and could have a shot at the Argentinean pole position over the next few months… A very strong month for Renault indeed, up to #2 in the brands ranking in January. Other great performers include the Peugeot 308 up 16 ranks to a best-ever #6, the Fiat Siena up to #10, Fiat Palio up 10 to #14 and Citroen Nuevo C3 up 18 to #39.
