After Brazil it is now the turn of Iceland to have first 2013 sales figures available. Over the first half of January, 288 new vehicles found a buyer in the country and the Toyota Yaris is back to the pole position it held over the Full Year 2012 thanks to 20 sales and 6.9% market share. SUVs start the year with a bang: the Chevrolet Captiva shoots up to #2 vs. #21 in 2102 at 18 units and 6.3%, the Honda CR-V ranks #3 vs. #12 in 2012 with 15 sales and 5.2%, the Mitsubishi Pajero is up to #11 vs. #32, the Kia Sportage up to #12 vs. #25 and the Audi Q7 up to #16 vs. #72.
Other great performers over the period include the Chevrolet Spark up to #5 vs. #14 in 2012, VW Caddy up to #8 vs. #23, Dodge Durango up to an exceptional 9th place whereas it didn’t even enter the Full Year 2012 Top 100, Subaru Legacy up to #18 vs. #66 and Citroen C-Zero up to #23. Finally, notice what I believe is the first new unit of ChangHe Coolcar sold in the country, with an additional 3 used units of the model sold over the period. Is this the start of the Chinese invasion in Iceland?
