Egypt October 2012: Verna leads, Jinbei H2 lands, Brilliance V5 up

New car sales in Egypt are up a healthy 15% year-on-year in October to 18,492 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 159,947 units, up 11% on 2011. The Top 4 most popular models are unchanged vs. September: the Hyundai Verna leads the way again and for the 8th time this year with 1,966 sales and 10.6%, reinforcing its 2012 year-to-date leadership at 18,085 units and 11.3%. It is followed by the Chevrolet TFR (aka Isuzu D-Max) with 1,600 sales and 8.7%, also #2 YTD at 15,228 units and 9.5%, the Chevrolet Lanos with 1,026 sales and 5.5% and the Chevrolet Aveo at 915 units and 4.9%. The Hyundai Elantra, down to #27 last month, is back up to #13 in October and only keeps its third place YTD above the Lanos for 80 sales at 8,583…
Renault has a stellar month and places two models in the Top 8: the Logan sedan is up 14 spots to #5 with 672 units and 3.6%, bettering the #6 it reached last July. It ranks #8 YTD vs. #11 in 2011. The Sandero for its part is up 10 ranks to #8 at 523 sales and 2.8% and is #21 YTD vs. #31 in 2011. Notice also the Kia new Picanto stable at #10 vs. #19 YTD. A couple of Chinese models shine this month: the Jinbei H2 is the best-performing newcomer in the ranking in October, landing directly at #23 with 227 sales while the Brilliance V5 is up 15 spots for its 2nd month of sales to #27 at 188 units and 1% and the Brilliance FSV is strong again at #45 vs. #77 YTD.
