Egyptian car sales are still fragile this month, down 20% year-on-year to 16,040 registrations, with the year-to-date total standing at 144,662 units, down 30%. For the first time in at least 6 months, a commercial vehicle, the Chevrolet TFR (aka Isuzu D-Max), leads the market with 1,528 sales and a very solid 9.5% share. It is however still #2 year-to-date at 11,747 units and 8.1%, well below the Hyundai Verna, down to #2 and 9.1% in November but totalling 14,328 sales and 9.9% share over the first 10 months of 2011.

Speranza Tiggo

Excellent performance for the ageing Chevrolet Lanos, up 2 spots on September to #3 at 1,152 units and 7.2%, well above its year-to-date level at 5.9%. The new generation Hyundai Accent resists in 4th place with 937 sales and 5.8%, and now also ranks 4th year-to-date, while the new gen Elantra takes a breather at #6 and 4.3% after a couple of exceptional months.

Peugeot 408

A very strong month also for the Speranza Tiggo, up 8 spots on last month to #8 at 541 units and 3.4%, the Kia Sportage up 9 ranks to #14, the Renault Logan MCV up 7 spots to #18, the Renault Duster up a massive 70 ranks to #22, the Hyundai Veloster up 22 spots to #24 and the Speranza M12 up 18 ranks to #26. The Peugeot 408 is up 75% and 19 spots to #34 for its 2nd month of sales in the country.
