Venezuela September 2012: Renault Duster lands at #20

New car sales in Venezuela are down 13% year-on-year in September to 9,586 registrations, however the year-to-date is still in positive at +11% on 2011 to 99,318 units. The Chevrolet Aveo continues to dominate by far with 1,477 sales and 15.4% which is above its 2012 year-to-date level of 14.7%. The Chevrolet Cruze is now stuck in a very satisfying 2nd place – it has been holding it since July now, at 782 units and 8.2% this time. The Mitsubishi Lancer has a fantastic month at #3 with 633 sales and 6.6% and is followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser at #4 and 593 units, almost entirely government deliveries.

Other great performers this month include the Kia Rio up 8 spots to #9 and 3% vs. #21 and 1.6% year-to-date, the Mazda BT-50 is up a huge 29 ranks to #12 at 2.9% vs. #24 and 1.3% ytd, the Kia Sportage is robust at #14, as is the Mitsubishi L300 at #24. After the Logan and Sandero in July, it’s time for the Renault Duster to make its first appearance in the Venezuelan ranking at #20 with 150 sales and 1.6% thanks to government deliveries.
