The Venezuelan new car market is up just 1% year-on-year in August to 11,081 registrations, with the year-to-date total up a very vigorous 14% on 2011 to 89,732 units. The Chevrolet Aveo keeps its pole position by far with 1,573 sales and 14.2% share and 13,081 and 14.6% year-to-date, while the Chevrolet Cruze beats its Venezuelan volume and market share record for the second consecutive month at 997 units and 9%. This is probably the highest share the Cruze has managed anywhere in the world. It is now #3 year-to-date with 4,998 sales and 5.6%.

Thanks to government orders, the Toyota Land Cruiser climbs onto the podium with 578 units and 5.2%, it is #13 year-to-date at 2.5%. Down one spot on July, the Ford Fiesta is 4th but still #2 year-to0date with 6,210 sales and 6.9% share. Other great performers this month in Venezuela include the Jeep Cherokee up 3 ranks to #6, the Kia Sportage up 7 to #14, the Kia Rio at #17 vs. #23 year-to-date, the Mitsubishi L300 at #23 vs. #40 and Renault models supported by government deliveries: the Logan at #27, Sandero at #36 and Koleos at #39.
