Car sales in Venezuela are down 9% this month at 10,975 registrations and down 4% year-to-date at 89,321 units. No surprise on top: the Chevrolet Aveo leads the way with 1,129 sales and 10.3%, pretty weak compared to its 16.4% year-to-date share, and the Ford Fiesta is #2 at 992 units and 9%.

The big event this month (this year?) is the arrival of the Chevrolet Cruze directly in 3rd place with 695 units sold for its very first month of sales in the country. It looks like it is destined to replace the Optra (down to #15 this month) in Chevrolet Venezuela’s range, and so should logically settle in the podium over the long term.

The Ford F350, Hyundai Getz (first generation!) and Jeep Grand Cherokee follow, each with shares above their 2011 levels. Other great performers include the Hyundai Elantra at #7, the Jeep Cherokee at #11 and Kia Rio at #14. Notice also the Dodge Dakota at #24 with 120 sales for its first month.
