Qatar July 2012: Toyota Hilux beats Land Cruiser again

New car sales in Qatar are up 47% year-on-year to 6,275 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 48,016 units, up 40% on 2011. For the 4th consecutive month, the Toyota Hilux is the favourite vehicle in the country thanks to 673 sales and 10.7% share. It is however still #2 year-to-date at 4,673 units and 9.7%, below the Toyota Land Cruiser (#2 in July at 9.4%) with 5,217 sales and 10.6%. The Toyota Prado jumps up 3 spots to land on the podium at #3 with 383 units and 6.1% share, well above its 2012 year-to-date level of 5%. With the Camry at #4, the Qatari Top 4 is 100% Toyota for the second time in a row.

GMC Sierra

The Hyundai Santa Fe shines once again, up 2 ranks on June to #5 with 221 sales and 3.5%, followed by the Nissan Sunny extremely solid again at #6 with 156 units and 2.5% vs. #15 and 1.4% year-to-date. Within the Top 10, notice also the good holds of the Nissan Patrol at #7, Lexus LX at #9 and GMC Sierra at #10. Further down, the Honda City lodges another outstanding month at #14 vs. #44 year-to-date, the Nissan Altima is up 18 spots to #16, the Porsche Cayenne up one to #20, the Hyundai i20 lands at #28, the Chevrolet Aveo is up 26 to #31 vs. #92 ytd and the Mitsubishi L200 is up to #32 vs. #69 ytd.

Toyota Hilux

Ford has an excellent month, with the Fusion up 73 ranks to #22, the Figo up to #47, the F-Series up 51 to #48, the Edge up 35 to #51 and the Explorer up 73 to #52. Notice also the Range Rover Sport up 7 to #34 vs. #57 ytd, the Nissan Pathfinder up 26 to #36, the Mitsubishi Galant up 33 to #56, the Mercedes C-Class up 48 to #62 and the Hyundai Veloster up 36 to #65.
