Down 8% year-on-year to just 70,000 registrations in 27 days, this is shaping up to be the worst month of August in France in no less than 35 years… Peugeot looks like it will lead the way for the second consecutive month with 12,312 sales and 17.6% share, followed by Renault at 9,929 units and 14.2% and Citroen with 9,389 sales and 13.4%. Dacia is up 32% to #5 at 6.4%.
Good old me next to a Dacia Lodgy in Grasse, France August 2012. Thanks to my Dad for the pic.
The Peugeot 208 is logically still in pole position with 4,688 sales, but compared to last week its share is down slightly to 6.7%, still the highest for a Peugeot since the 6.9% of the Peugeot 207 in February 2010. The Renault Clio 3 is #2 at 4.7%, ahead of the Renault Megane at 3% and the Citroen C3 at 2.8%. Notice the VW Polo clocking in another excellent month at #6 with 2.3%, just 28 units below the Peugeot 308.
Along with the Duster at #8, the Lodgy is the second Dacia in the Top 10 at #10 with 1,464 sales and 2.1%, confirming a spot it acquired last week. As a reminder, if the Lodgy manages to maintain this position for a couple more days until the end of the month, it will be the 4th consecutive Dacia to rank at least once within the French monthly Top 10, after the Logan peaked at #7 in December 2007, the Sandero at #2 in March 2010 and the Duster at #5 in November 2011.
