Solid month for new car sales in Slovakia, up 12% year-on-year in July to 6,252 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 40,568 units, up 2% on 2011. Interestingly, neither the Skoda Octavia, #1 at 9.9% share, nor the Skoda Fabia, #2 at 6.2%, have lost ground vs. June in the wake of the new Skoda Rapid’s arrival in the coming months, even though both operate at levels clearly lower than their 2012 year-to-date shares of 10.2% and 8% respectively.
The two models below see their ranking unchanged again but both improve on an already remarkable month of June. The Hyundai i30 ranks third with 218 sales and 3.5% share compared to 3.2% in June while the Kia Cee’d does even better at 214 units and 3.4%, almost a full percentage point increase over June.
Other great performers this month in Slovakia include the Kia Sportage back up to #5 with 176 sales and 2.8%, the Renault Clio up to #9, the Renault Fluence up to #10, the Suzuki Swift at #16 vs. #24 year-to-date, the Honda CR-V up 9 spots on last month to #18, the Peugeot 208 up 12 to a best-ever #22, the Skoda Citigo up a huge 47 ranks to #26, the Nissan Juke up 42 to #34, the Audi A3 up 33 to #37, the Honda Civic at #41 vs. #70 year-to-date and the VW Up! up 40 spots to #45.
