The Ford Taurus was last US model to top the passenger car ranking at year end (1992-1996)

Thanks to Rene I can now share with you an all-models Top 189 Ranking for the USA in 1992 and Top 182 for 1993! The Ford F-Series was already the best-selling vehicle in the country at that time and the Ford Taurus managed to become the best-selling passenger car in the USA for the first time ever in 1992, selling 409,751 units in what would remain the nameplate’s strongest year. It would keep that title for 4 consecutive years before passing the relay to the Toyota Camry in 1997.
The Oldsmobile Ninety Eight ranked #78 in 1992
Witness models from now gone brands still in the ranking 20 years ago: Saturn ranked #12 in 1993 with 229,356 sales, the Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera was #20 at 143,699 units, the Mercury Sable ranked #22 in 1992 with 116,623 sales, the Geo Metro, a rebadged Suzuki Swift, was #28 in 1992 at 94,995 units, the Plymouth Sundance ranked #41 in 1993 with 86,635 sales, the Oldsmobile Ninety Eight ranked #72 in 1992 with 35,597 sales and the Eagle Talon was #78 in 1992 at 29,911 units.
