Netherlands April 2012: VW Polo back in the lead, Up! in Top 5

The Dutch car market is down 14% year-on-year in April to 41,178 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 207,673 units, down 9% on 2011. For the first time since last January but the 6th time in the last 12 months the VW Polo is the best-selling car in the Netherlands with 1,729 sales and 4.2% share, reinforcing its 2012 year-to-date leadership at 8,246 units and 4%. In fact the April podium is identical to the year-to-date ranking with the Peugeot 107 #2 at 3.6% followed by the Renault Twingo at 3.1%.
Excellent month for the Ford Focus, up 19 spots on March to #4 with 1,216 sales and 3% share, it is #5 year-to-date at 2.3%. It already impressed last month by ranking #7, but the VW Up! does even better in April, up 2 ranks to #5 with 1,112 units and a best-ever 2.7% share. The Renault Megane is back from the dead, up 46 spots to #6 while the Kia Rio (#11) and Peugeot 508 (#13) manage to maintain themselves at very high levels.
Further down the ranking, notice the BMW 3-Series up 7 ranks to #20, the Audi A5 up 25 to #35, the Mazda CX-5 falling by 21 spots to #39, the Peugeot 208 up 36 ranks to #58 and the Citroen DS5 in the Top 100 for the second month in a row at #94.
