Czech car sales are up a very healthy 13% year-on-year in April to 16,589 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 60,118 units, up a respectable 9% on 2011. For the first time ever, Skoda manages to place 5 models in the Top 6 this month. No surprises on top: the Octavia leads the way as usual with 2,017 sales and 12.2% share, followed by the Fabia at 1,717 units and 10.4%, its highest share since last October.
The Skoda Superb ranks #4 with 478 units and 2.9%, also its highest since October, ahead of the Yeti at #5 with 456 sales and 2.7%, its highest share since last September. Thanks to 374 units sold, the Skoda Roomster reaches an excellent 6th position, its highest monthly ranking at home in at least 3 years! The ugly duckling in the Skoda family is the Citigo, still struggling to take off at #33 with 114 sales and 0.7%.
If Skoda dominates at home, Hyundai has imposed itself as the foreign brand of choice in Czech Republic, placing no less than 3 models in the Top 10 like in January and February this year. The Hyundai i30 is the most popular foreign model again this month in third place overall with 480 sales and 2.9% while the ix20 ranks #8 and the i20 is #9. Other great performers this month include the Kia Rio at #22 and Ford Ka at #37.
