Austria October 2011: VW Tiguan and BMW X3 take off

New car sales in Austria are up just 1% this month at 28,909 registrations, with the 2011 year-to-date total up 8% at 302,445 units. No surprises on top: the VW Golf dominates again with 1,307 sales and 4.5%, it is the 20th consecutive month the Golf is #1 in Austria, the last time it wasn’t was in February 2010. The VW Polo is #2 for the 10th time in the last 12 months at 1,098 units and 3.8%, above its 2011 level (3.3%).
Excellent performance of the VW Tiguan up 2 spots to #3 with 724 sales and 2.5% share, making the podium 100% Volkswagen. It is the first time since December 2009 the Tiguan climbs on the Austrian podium. The Renault Scenic maintains itself at an outstanding 6th position with 570 units and 2% share while the Ford Fiesta is up 10 spots on September to #7 with 567 sales.
Further down the ranking, notice the BMW X3 up a huge 44 ranks to land in 13th position at 429 units and 1.5%, the Audi A1 up 24 spots to #30, the Seat Alhambra up 10 spots to #35, the Kia Rio up 10 spots to #52 and the Citroen DS4 up 31 ranks to become Citroen’s best-seller in Austria at #62 with 160 sales. The Audi Q3 makes its very first appearance in the Austrian Top 100 at #73 with 120 units.
